Hi Guys

I am new here and need some help.

I bought my 159 sw 3 month ago, It was bought new 12/2007

First question: does it have a electrical opening on the boot? because my doesn't have one or it´s broken, the badge does not move at all.

Second problem: all fuses are ok but all the lights in the boot and tailgate do not work.

third problem: the rear wiper

speed button doesn't work, the rear wiper only works when using the wash button up or down.

It seems to me all problems are related.

I have checked the fuses and the lamps. Which fuse is responsible for the tailgate light and side lights in the boot ?

I have noticed that there is no fuse box in the side compartment boot as shown in manual, is that only in some models ?

i think pre 2008 models didnt have logo boot opening. the switch is on the front light cluster on the roof lining. I have a 2007 saloon model and open the boot using the button on the light console

Thank you for your answer 159_kid...
really stupid not beeing possible to open boot from outside.
also button in light console is in a really bad place.
If someone could help me find fuse number responsable for boot light and tailgait light, manual does not show same number comparing to the sticker on the fuse dashboard. Is ther also a fusebox in the boot, or only in specific models?

There are fuses above the battery, down by your knee and a small on behind a flap in the boot (or at least there is in the saloon - on the passenger side) Boot opens with the key or the button - I dont see the problem??

Sounds like an earth problem. You'll probably find that all the electrical components for the tailgate are terminated To the same earth point. You'll need a wiring diagram to track this down or just trace the wires coming out of the lights/wipers etc and see if they all get terminated to the body(earth) at the same point. Corrosion is the usual culprit with bad earths.

Hope this helps.

Hey Guys thank you all for the replies...
I am checking the boot lights with Alfa Romeo here in Portugal and to be honest they look a little bit lost, like my blind grandfather searching for the house keys.
All the fuses are ok. I think body earth could be the problem..

Problems that I have with openning the boot are :
normally I travel allmost every day to the beach to kitesurf and travel with 3 people ,i leave the car open so everyone can go there and pick the gear and i keep the key or it vanishes fast. they always enter my car wet to open the boot and ruin my leather seats, and some times leave the center console light on.

Also my blond girfriend each time she wants to pick something , instead of turning lights on she opens the boot ,so I have stop the car and step out to close the boot.

She says italian Cars are stupid (Golf owner), I told her I would divorce her faster, rather than change car...

Did you figure the lights out?

I would hazard a guess that the microswitch in the latch isn't working properly so the lights aren't getting the earth signal.

The rear wiper problem is usually a column multi-switch fault. Thats the bit with all the stalks on it.
