Hi all

Well upon driving to work today i noticed my drivers side window only goes up in increments of approx 1cm when holding the elec window button up, is this a common problem?
It was fine yesterday although last night was a very damp night and even the dash said i had a side light out then it cleared itself.
Also randomly it says I have water in my fuel filter but only says it when in damp conditions!

Can anyone shed some light on these matters please.

Hope you can help and hopefully these minor but annoying teething problems will eventually go away.

Cheers people

Try:

1. resetting the windows (all the way down & hold button down for 5 seconds, all the way up & hold down button for 5 seconds)

2. check battery connection - particularly quick release -ve. Make sure terminals are clean and when connecting push them as far down as possible before tightening, then check it's a tight connection.

3. check battery condition: if it's not good it can cause all sorts of electrical problems and consider replacing. If you do decide to do this make sure it is the correct size: height as well as footprint. Strap over the top should be a snug fit. If it isn't it's the wrong size battery.

4. get it checked out by someone who knows what they are doing. Can save a lot of time & money in the end.

Good luck!

The window I would suggest is simply jamming slightly, this overloads the relay and the power is cut off, then it repeats, I would suggest you buy a can of silicon spray and spray down the edges of the window, which should lubricate the runners and remove the problem :)

Mine did that when I first viewed it. Seller didn't know how to fix and I got a decent discount for new control module:thumbs:

Got an annoying loud cracking/creaking noise from both doors, looks like its coming from the centre metal arm lever (main body side) not the hinges do you know if this is an easy fix?

Yep! It's the door stays: the strap that stops the door flying open will have rounded the hole that the bolt goes through on the bodywork. If you open it slowly and watch for it you'll see it sort of jump. The only way to stop it is to get new ones -don't try getting second hand ones, it's not worth the risk that they are just as bad. They ain't cheap either: expect to pay about £35 each. To fit you need to take the door trim off - there are a few good threads on here that explain how to - and I'd also buy two of the screw head covers that cover the bolt on the door pull, just about where your thumb goes when you close the door. They're three quid for a pair and it means you don't have to worry about damaging the hand pull when you get the blank out. If you are doing this to both front doors it's about a mornings work including coffee break and you'll need only relatively basic screwdrivers and spanners to do it. I'd also suggest upgrading your front speakers at the same time. I know it puts the cost up, but you will be impressed by the difference it makes, even with a pair of relatively basic spec speakers.

This is the thread you want:
