Since I had a long trawl up to Manchester Monday evening, I thought I would set myself a bit of an economy challenge and see what the best Average MPG I could get was.

I was sitting at 55-60 on the dual carriageway and then 65 on the Motorway (that was hard )

49.2mpg average over 257 miles - I thought that was pretty good for a 155!

In contrast, on the way home I averaged 30.3mpg over 263 miles. But it was a lot more fun :lol:

What sort of figures is everyone else getting? I was pretty relieved that, if I have to, I can eek out the petrol for a fair old distance as previously I've been getting 32 tops.

My mpg reading hovers around the 37 mark, with mixed driving patterns.

But buying an Alfa Romeo for it's fuel economy is like buying a porn film for it's plot

49 is good for a 155, i acheived about the same on a 70ish mile journey on my 120bhp

I always get the worse fuel economy on my daily commute to work. They say the ECU learns your driving style, well mine has got me well a truly sussed. I don't want to go to work so it gives me crap 'I can't be bothered' MPG. When I am out enjoying myself I get loads of sMilesPG. :lol:

Driving to Sunderland from Manchester at 60 - 70 and via 6 sets of 50 limits I got 40.5mpg my best so far in the 155, trips to work this week have got it back down to 36mpg

Did a trip from Boro to Northumberland about 45 miles. Took it steady and actually got a little over 50mpg!! Was A19 all the way, stopping for the tunnel! However on average it is about 37-40 depending on how heavy my foot is. Got the 155bhp btw

got mine on average and its hovering around 30.5 /30.6 since i got it. Only done 5k miles though i've had it like 10 months

I did Bristol to Manchester to Northampton and back to Bristol, 445 miles, in 9 hours, average speed 50 mpg with 40 mpg (keeping it at 79mph on the motorway and dual-carriageways). That was one long drive on Monday But hey what can I say I like driving and love it even more now I've got a Meetow :-D

i did a run to Belgium, managed 47 mpg, but I was doing 70 on the motorway in the UK and 130Kph in France and whatever the speed limit was in Belgium.

Getting 49mpg in a 155 is really good :thumbs: I bet you were bored silly by the end of it :lol:

Normally get 35mpg as i work local and the half the journey the engine is cold. Thought I would it would take it on a mixed run with the cars aircon off in Normal, i managed 37.5mpg, and with it off in Dymanic i got 40.1 mpg.

Given the engines performance i'm fine with those figures.

Well I normally get 30-35, but I felt like trying a topgear style test :lol:

But yes, by the time I got to the other end I was bored out of my mind (and bored of the back of the lorry I'd been following) - so I destroyed that hard work a little afterwards

Come to think of it - if I'd stayed restrained for the whole journey, I think I could have made it there and back on a tank :wow:

35mpg average is brilliant for short journeys. is it in the city? In those conditions i normally get 20-25 if i drive quick, or around 30 with careful driving

I get a regular average of 37.9 (urban) on my daily commute to work with DNA set to Normal, but I've just noticed that I actually seem to be getting a better fuel economy when driving in Dynamic. Can this be right?!? I will have to test it next week by doing a full to empty test and keeping it in Dynamiic mode.

The other questions that I have about fuel economy (besides which is more economical driving in Normal or Dynamic) is, if I was to fit a Novitec Powerjet 2 how much would it reduce the mpg? (Assuming that it does if it uses more fuel/air.) Also I'd like to know what the revs idle at with this modification.

i do about 40 miles a day going to uni and back, granted i'm always in traffic and ques because of the 4 year road works but i don't drive much other than that motorway driving apart from going to and from work 4 days a week which is about 4 miles away. and i'm only averaging 47.6 at the minute. it's going up slowly, the more time i get on the motorway with no stop start etc. that's not the most impressive MPG from a diesel is it lol

also AlfaBliss i noticed i get better milage in dynamic when i had it on a couple times. but i keep it in normal anyway because that's what the dealer told me i get best milage in. but let me know how your test goes

Hello.

I have a Mito 1.6jtdm and i'm averaging about 46 mpg, on a total of about 405 miles per tank. My daily drive is about 18 miles, to work and back. (lot's of "about"s )

I normally drive in "all weather" because the winter in Portugal is kinda harsh, with lots of rain. When i switch to "dynamic" for a fun drive the milleage drops considerably, and i mean like 38mpg.

I could blame it on the tires - Pirelli PZero 215/45 R17 - but i won't, i love the grip, control and the way the car handles. I wish i had cruise control, i bet the mpg would be much better. I've only done 2360 miles, so i guess the milleage will improve as miles go by.

Btw, for all you jtdm owners, whats the top speed of your Mito? I've only managed to do 120mph (controlled environment).

With the 155TB, on my typical commute on highways and town roads, I get around 35mpg in Dynamic.

Using the cruise control at 110 km/h in 6th gear, I get 42+ mpg on level roads. The problem is that it's so easy to drop a gear, floor the throttle and reach ridiculous speeds

I've got a Novitec Powerjet2 installed, it really increases the midrange power and makes the engine feel more muscular. It probably means my MPG figures are off because the tuning box is modifying the sensor values the ECU sees.

Not tested the top speed yet - do lots of motorway driving but usually at busy times, so not so much opportunity.

Usually average 59-62 mpg. Dynamic drops it a lot though (probably because I also tend to speed up anyway :lol: ), as does a strange problem that happens once per tankful, for about 6-7 miles when the mpg drops the high 20s and the engine vibrates like it's going to explode! Dealer can't find a fault as it never happens on a test drive - it's only once every 500 miles for 6-7 miles and never at the same level of fuel used, so it's unlikely to happen when they've got it.

I regularly start a long journey with the promise of driving to achieve good fuel consumption. But then the first time I get to a decent slip road, or an opportunity to pass someone, I end up changing down, thrashing it, and forgetting all about my good intentions...
