Hi all

I'm replacing the bushes on the rear end of my Spider. I'm after the full kit for the rear and spotted them on Ebay for £165, all in, from what appears to be a distributor. If I was to buy them direct from Powerflex I would be paying around £185+Vat.

Is there any reason to but them direct from Powerflex? Any experiences?

I did wonder about old and new stock. Is the new stock black and purple or the is that the old stock.
I also understand that some washers were supplied in error with the old stock. Is that correct?

As for special tools you could do with the use of a press to remove old bushes,i didnt have this luxery,in total it took 11 hours from start to finish,a lot of drilling and hammering you will need a strong vice, spray all parts with plus gas afew times a couple of days before,a knack of putting spring pan back in,i fitted outer first then used a jack to get inner in,if it dosent go in nicely start again,my brother couldnt wait for me and him and his mate had a go last week,he now has to replace his rear sub frame as they snapped the lugs off where the spring pan fits :tut:,its all good fun enjoy.

oh,and lots of copper grease, the little sachets aint enough.

I have a 10 ton press which just about does the job of getting old bushes out - or you need lots of hacksaw blades and cold chisel...
Intrestingly, my spring pan bushes are definatyely black and the rear lower arm purple - i didn't fit the lower rear arm ones as I bought a whole new arm.
My preference is to fit the outer first too although some do it t'other way round.

Hey thanks For all the info. It sounds like a bit of an epic job, especially without a press! Just renovating a house and awaiting the arrival of kiddy no 2, so I would get shot for playing in the garage for 11 hours. I'll see what comes back at the next service - don't want to risk it by leaving it too long.

Thanks for the offer Starkers, I'm just down the road in Adur. The gtv's currently off the road (yep bad/sad I know), it will be back sometime soon! Rest assured its not rotting away, I've been using the time to get a few details ironed out. No doubt I'll see you about once it's rolling again.
