There are 2 "official" earthing points in the rear of my car ... but ... do I have to use them or will any good contact with the car chassis do????

for an amplifier, i presume?

how long would the groundwire be if you utilised one of the original ground points? these are the ones in the very back corners, under the rear light assemblies?

a 'good' ground point is one that is solid chassis (not a flimsy brace), and stripped clean of paint where your terminal is, and very securely/firmly attached.

i prefer to drill a new hole in the spare wheel well, in a position that can be accessed from underneath the car, as well as inside. this way, i can use a bolt/nut to make a tight connection. obviously, when drilling, be mindful of any electrical/brake lines and fuel tank.

:)

Car 'puter + Amp ... My reason for using a "new" earthing point was the 4 AWG wiring I'm using is probably a little big to attach to the existing small (I presume) earthing point ...
