Hello all

I have just purchased a x reg 147 Selespeed. I was very excited about getting it but have found it to be very strange to drive using the Selespeed system.

I would love to get some feed back from other selespeed drivers to hopefully reassure me that I will grow to get used to the new gear system.

I have only had it for a week and somedays I love driving it but mainly I still find the automatic clutch very strange and I do not feel bonded with the car and confident driving it the way I would with a manual gearstick and clutch. I don't use city mode because there are issues with it not selecting the right gear (going to Alfa Specialist on Monday).

How long can it take to get used to the Selespeed system?
I'm really hoping that with time I will grow to love it.

Any advise would be great.

Many thanks

Jonathan

I've got the same issue. Had mine for about a month now and still getting used to it. Only drive it probably twice a week.

I've noticed that when changing gear to keep it smooth I don't lift off the accelerator.

Hi there & Welcome! :p

Top tips: Keep the Selespeed oil topped up and make sure you battery is always in tip top condition.

The smooth & steady changes are made jus like an manual - lift your foot off the throttle when changing gear. For fast changes get to 6000rpm and keep your foot to the floor when changing up. When slowing down it will downshift for you automatically so keep an eye on your gear display to avoid crunching into 1st!

And listen for the throttle blip when you drop a cog! And enjoy it. When you're used to it it's fantastic!

Thanks everyone.
I did take it out for a quick drive yesterday and just kept going because I really loved it. When I change gear smoothly it feels great its just changing down to 2nd at junctions etc that I find hard work. Also shifting up from 2nd to 3rd when accelerating hard seems to take an age.

Thanks for the tip about the Selespeed oil and battery. The oil looks good but its going to Alfaman Services on Monday so I will ask about it.

Cheers guys
