Having studied the underbonnet area for special engineering I found the front suspension turrets look defined in form like they're cast as opposed to pressed. This could explain the claim that the front suspension is 80% alloy.

It would increase rigidity.

The equivalent suspension turret detail on the 3 series looks like a cheap toy in comparison; simple stamped tin.

No, the " sheet metal" around the top of the suspension on the Giulia just looks squarer and has radii and ribs you wouldn't get in pressed metal.
