No, it does not. Especially when you live in Malta :).

Never used it on my 147 and at 7 years it had no rust at all. Contrary to the also 7 year old German and reliable Vectra.

I don't know if there's another country in Europe that uses more salt than we use in Poland.

I thought Dinitrol and Waxoyl stuff all died out in the 90's can you really still buy it?

Waste of money these days ... you'd bet better off saving your money for beer... Alfas have a 7 year anti-rust warranty ...
Yes it is still available and is a must on classic Alfa's (or in my case classic mini's)

I wouldn't have thought it would be required on modern galvanised cars though, and as you say they have a 7 year warranty. I suppose it might be worth looking at if someone is planning to keep their car for 10-15 years or more.

I might think about it on a 4C though as if it turns out as good as it looks I'll probably keep it for 20 years. Then again it depends how much is carbon fibre / steel.

You may be using more than us, but in the winter of 2010 Denmark actually ran out of salt. Worse weather than expected :wow:

I know a lot of my fellow Alfistas here in DK get Dinitrol treatment on new cars as well. I wonder why it is so normal here compared to the UK. Is the climate really that different?

Plenty of rusted through 156/147/GT floorpans so can do no harm.

I get ours sprayed with waxoil every other service:)

Thanks guys...

The salt here is everywhere but that is cos i live on a tiny island!

I agree Alfred....it all depends on the length of ownership.

Still awaiting my DINITROL dealer's call....guess he is busy working on other G's :)

felixen, interesting comment there....perhaps in the UK people sell their cars after 3-5 years and hence Dinitrol /Waxoyl is not considered

....has anyone seen any rust so far on their G?????!

Yes, I believe that we tend to keep our cars longer in Denmark than our friends from the UK. Mostly due to the fact that this is the most expensive country in the world to buy a car in. At least as far as I know

A new QV here is around EUR 60500.. Which is why I decided to settle for a 1.4 120 HK

When a car is imported the first thing added is 25% value added tax.. On top of that there is a registration fee of 180%.

Of course all the extras go through this same process.

I believe that cars are actually sold somewhat cheap to Danish importers. In order to be able to keep the price at a level that some people have a chance of affording.

Don't know if it is more or less expensive than your cars though :)
Of course there are other aspects to take into account. Income level, tax etc.

Well, enough complaining from me. Regardless of price I still love my Alfa :)

I was having a nose about underneath a Giulietta and found that Alfa don't seem to have even put much paint on it, let alone anything else..

If I had one, I'd waxoyl it (or at least paint the underside with something "heavy duty"). Galvanised doesn't make the steel uncorrodable.. it only slows down the red tin worm.

On the other hand.. my collection of Alfas is on average 15 years old.. so the first owners' lack of investment in the body is what keeps the Grim Reaper loitering around on the fringes of my driveway.. :D

In Norway all Alfas (and Fiats) were "tectylized" by the import company in 2010. This treatment was discontinued when guarantee/warranty was extended from 3 to 5 years in 2011. I managed to get treatment for free on my G delivered in March as she was ordered in 2010. Value is approx Euro 550 over here.
