I came across an interesting post earlier this evening from 2006 which mentioned a dealer/factory recall to fix an issue which caused early M 1.5.5 ecus (pre-1999) to incorrectly adjust the fuel mixture due to interference caused by the lambda heater element.

Had mine since August '98 and never had one for the ecu ... but I'm sure the ecu reprogramming date is 2000, not '98.
