as the above question, i have a spare passenger side seat for my GTV however my drivers seat has a bit of an issue it squeaks like crazy and also feels ever so slightly limp on the left hand side compared to the right so i'm assuming something is bent/broken/worn but i'm not sure how easy it is to take apart and if it'd be possible or not to swtich the covering and whatnot onto the spare passenger seat to enable that to fit in the drivers side.

Have a look at this, it may help :

They're not difficult to take apart. You need to take the seat out of the car ideally ( so disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes before undoing the seat electrics as you don't want an airbag warning light ). The centre part of the backrest is held on by the wire surrounding it held under clips. Undo those and the centre part lifts out ( the glue may however need persuading to come out. Now you'll see the similar clips holding on the sides - undo them. At the base of the backrest near the rear footwell are 3 plastic clips. Undo those. Drill out the rivet holding on the tilt mechanism lever ( it may be a screw and not a rivet ), pull off the lever and remove the surrounding trim ( it's in two parts to grip the seat fabric ). Also remove the plastic trim on the recline control. Now you can pull the fabric/leather up towards the headrest. The workshop manual has the process in greater detail with drawings. Before reassembly, find a self tapping screw the right size to replace the tilt lever rivet you drilled out. Much easier when you can see the hole.
