Hi guys

I have absolutely no idea when my cambelt was last changed on my 3.0 V6 so feels like better safe than sorry better get it sorted. Question is whether to attempt doing it myslef or not.

I've got quite a bit of mechanical experience and know how to use a spanner its just I've read many a time that changing the cambelt on a V6 i super hard.

Any thoughts?

It is a long slog, you really need the cam shaft locks and the dti adaptor to be totally accurate. Undoing the crank pulley bolt can be hard. The space at the belt end is very tight. If you are not extremely competent you may want to pay someone to do it. Even professional mechanics do not want to do it. I did mine but had the car in the garage at my leisure and have plenty of tools.

have you done a cambelt before ? if you take your time and have the correct tools , defo need correct cam locks and dti dial guage. plenty of info on here. if you got the time ? would be very rewarding. have you inspected the belt ?

some garages are doing cambelt changes not much more that buying all the toolsand parts so its worth getting a few quotes
