Which genius designed disk brake systems such that to change the disk you have to remove the calliper carrier?

Easy enough job, but on a 14-year-old BMW the bolt heads just round as soon as you look at them (nothing that a big hammer couldn't cure though :D). Fords are even worse - a big thick bolt with a teeny little head!

Bring back my mk2 cavalier... You could change the disks without even taking the callipers off, and change the clutch through an access panel under the gearbox.

Progress, eh?

I put new pads on the Volvo yesterday and the calipers are held on with piddling little 12mm bolts which seem to be made from cheese. One of which rounded and made an easy job slightly more interesting. My big hammer came into play too!
