Hi All!c:)

Does anyone know how the Tipo 33 Stradale dihedral doors are sprung so they do not fall under their own weight when they are closed please ? I did read somewhere that a pneumatic system was used (maybe gas struts?) but I can't relocate that web page.

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

Since that was a race derived car the doors would be very lightweight and flimsy so weigh about the same as Cheryl Coles lunch. It really wouldn't take much to lift or hold them, so might have been simple mechanical hold. Not sure they had gas struts in those days. On the race car there was no assistance at all. Don't know about roadgoing versions.

Thanks guys. Good point about the weight but I have read that there was some form of counterbalance. Some of the Stradale models had wind down glass windows so that would have added some to the weight.

Thanks also for the motorshow link. Maybe one of the nice fellas at the Alfa Museum would know ?

Best regards,

Paul.
