Hello

Drove my GTV this morning, when I pulled up I had to park up and noticed that it was a bit of a shunt getting from forward gears into reverse.
It sounded a bit like the gearbox hadn't stopped spinning completely when I was trying to get it into reverse.
So after a bit of a noise (I assume when the cogs were stopping) it went in.

Took it to specialist who said:

Not too sure if it has rear syncromesh, therefore if you haven't given the cogs a chance to stop it will crunch in. With synchromesh it probably wouldn't do it.
Also could be clutch thinning and not completely dis-engaging.

What do you think?

Could it be normal for this car - apparently it is something that they have frequently seen and have advised to use the 2 second rule. ie depress clutch, count to 2, then engage the reverse gear to give it a chance to let the cogs stop.

I would really value your advice on this.

And before you ask, I have posted this in the GTV lounge aswell to widen the 'arc' of opinion.

Thank you
