Thats OK, but it would hit trucks and vans, they need and are justified in their use of diesel. Higher fuel prices would hit inflation as transport costs would soar.

In my super-efficient diesel GT I can get from the port to everywhere I need to go and back to port again on one tank when in Britain. :byebye:

Create incentives for people to switch to diesel then penalise them for doing it afterwards.

VED is near nothing on goods vehiclesalready, in most parts of the world...

tax refund on fuel taxes end of the year would work better? interest free loan for the government aswell

Businesses don't pay VAT on fuel do they?
That's already a nice big refund...

yes, they do when they purchase the fuel. They can't get it without paying VAT at that time. recuperating the VAT can be 4-5 months later.

But that's the same for all purchases for the business, though for some you can only get the VAT back over the course of years (stuff you're not selling on or adding value too).
