Oh, and a clean looking 156 SW being driven with some enthusiasm. I think 156 sightings can be considered ‘unexpected’ now...
The last few 156 I've seen are clearly ratty ones on their last legs. Haven't seen a well kept one for years other than ones parked outside my specialist.

Maybe mine gets mentions on other forums whenever I take it out :D

I saw a beautiful condition 159SW in the beach front car park in Skegness last Tuesday.

Still such an eye catcher.

(the 159SW I mean, most definitely NOT the car park in Skeggy.....)

The 159 SW was a handsome car. I nearly got one instead of my first Giulietta back in 2011. And then I remembered a disappointing weeks rental four years before. The cost at the time was a bit less than a 1.4 Giulietta too!

The first of the 939-series cars I ever saw was a 159 Sportwagon on a skiing holiday in Italy, and parked outside our hotel. I clearly remember at the time thinking ''wow'' and thinking I'd love to have one. Ridiculous as we've never needed anything as remotely practical as one of those, but I'd still be more than happy to own one even now.

Yeah the ones you do tend to see nowadays seem to be hanging on in there in spite of their owners best (or worst) efforts. Funny how it goes really, they were everywhere back in the day. And I’m sure it does!

A yellow SAAB convertible, don't know what year as it had a vanity plate, but a fairly late one, & one of those Rover Streetwise things. I have to say the years have been kind to the Streetwise; maybe it was a car before its time?

A white Duetto in Woking, roof down (Duetto; not Woking)

A Mk1 3dr Range Rover. It was driving toward me, and its track looked quite narrow relative to its width. Maybe it was just how my eyes saw it rather than how it is. Still a cracking looker though. It seems a bit belittling to call it Mk1; not sure what else to call it though.

I followed a green Lotus Carlton for a short while on the M27 near Broadlands Lakes and the River Test. Not seen one on the road years.

Excellent spot. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one. We’re they all green? Or could you have it in black, too? I can’t remember now :)

Only ever seen them in green. Saw one back in the early nineties, then another for sale in an auction last year and today. That's it!!!

I believe they were all imperial green
Hello boss (y)

Ah yep; from memory Imperial Green could look black in some lights; I think that’s why I thought you could get them in black :)

As an aside... what current car would make an excellent subject for Lotus to do a Carlton job on? I wondering about a Lotus Stinger.

Some pictures of the Lotus Carlton from when I went to the Motor Show at the NEC Birmingham. I guess it would've been 1990. I used to love going to those motor shows.

I drove past here today:

I can report the Toyota and the 156 have clearly not turned a wheel since this streetview was taken in 2017. Both looking very sorry for themselves. I hope they're not the subject of that "classics 4 hire" sign you can see at the top right!
