I've upgraded to a cracking 159 2.4 Lusso JTDM saloon. After cutting my teeth in the last few years with my 147 JTDM. I'm delighted with my purchase and I plan to treat her well, but unfortunately, mechanics don't always understand this concept!!! I'm tired of receiving a lacklustre, pessimistic attitude from most garages I'm currently using (with 147) and they only spark up some enthusiasm when presenting me with the invoice.
I'm not blinkered by love and I'm aware it's a 58 plate at 114,000 but I'm prepared to keep it in the condition it's been used to. So I'm pleading for someone to recommend an alfa mechanic in the Glasgow area. I don't mind the guy I've got for most usual things but would appreciate more knowledgable jobs (most of them are done) getting the professional touch she deserves.
I accept Alfa's need a bit more attention, but you couldn't buy the smile she puts on my face.

When I had a GTA just south of Manchester, my approach to the same problem you describe was to drive it to Autolusso North in Penrith whenever it needed anything 'specialist' doing. You're about 10 minutes closer to them than I was too. :D

Cheers, it's an option but 120 miles away so I'll keep it for an urgent issue.

Try asking in the Scotland regional lounge. When I had a problem while visiting Edinburgh I was recommended Mclennans at Loanhead, Edinburgh
Car garage Edinburgh servicing classic cars in Scotland
who I found very helpful even though I was only visiting the area and unlikely to be a regular customer. I would also agree with Bazza about Autolusso. Dan is very knowledgeable and I have even booked work in for while on holiday in the area.
