Hi all.

Was just in the process of getting rather giddy about the scheduled delivery of my G. Only to recieve an e-mail this evening from Inchcape saying the following

"Unfortunately the delivery of your vehicle has been delayed in transport to the UK from Alfa GB and the the estimated delivery date is 01/09/2011"

So, i am currently typing this through teary eyes:cry::cry:

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar message recently??

I ordered mine through Inchcape(company car) and they told me 1st September from ordering on the 4th April. I then rang for an update in July to be told the car had arrived in June...Idiots. They also said that they wouldn't deliver in August because of the new reg coming out in Sept, which is rubbish as my mate is having his 1 series Coupe delivered on Friday...I think someone is trying to bump their September sale up.

RomeoRaiderZ.

Thanks for the welcome, i have been looking on the forum for a few months but wanted to save posting until i had the car and could put some positive things on here (which i'm sure i'll be doing in the future!!)

Its the only thing that has cheered me up a little thinking of it coming with a sparkly '61 reg!

Munco.

Mine also is a company car, i ordered on 19th May and was told delivery would be 5th August.

I kinda thought it might be some 'cooking of the books'. I will wait and see if any of my colleagues get their cars delivered before 1st Sept.
I tried contacting Inchcape for an update, but they told me it was with the dealer. I tried e-mailing the dealer, but had no reply. so i (wrongly) assumed all was well until yesterday!!

Oh well, i'll have to stick with the most uncomfortable car in the world!! (Insignia)

Thanks for the replies

As its inchcape they sub lease through Hitachi who sub lease through BLADE motoring group who are based in Cheltenham. I dealt with a girl called Charlotte and was very useful 01452729270. Its worth a phone call. Who do you work for?

Well, i had a phonecall yesterday from the dealer (Whitequay in Reading) telling me they have my car and were wondering why i didn't want it until 1st Sept!!!

Gonna contact Inchcape this afternoon and see if there is a reason why i can't have the car.

But thats leaves me with the dilemma, Car straight away on '11 Plate...... Or '61 Plate car in a few weeks?????

As frustrating as it may be... if it were me I would leave it and get the new plate. It's only a few weeks!

With all due respect I think you guys are crazy! Just for a number plate!?:wow:

I ordered mine yesterday and have to wait for 3-4 months! Am already going crazy:eek:!

Don't you have the option to personalize your number plate for a small premium in the UK!?

I dont know what info the plates in your country display but over here they show how old the car is so if your going to spend all that money on buying a brand bew car then you might as well wait just a couple of more weeks and get the brand new registration number to go with it. In my opinion anyway.

It may also help a tiny bit with resale later on, but the main thing is people will know it is brand new when they see you driving a 61 plate on the 1st Sep. On an 11 plate most people will immediately assume it is nearly 6 months old rather than 2 weeks :(

When its 6 months old and the 12 plates are out then think about a private plate if it bothers you at all.

I see! You're right there, then! Wasn't seeing it that way.

In Malta you can pay an extra €120 and get a personalized combination of 3 letters and 3 numbers. Alternatively for € 1500 you are free to choose whatever you like but in my opinion I'd rather spend that money on extras.
