Would you buy a debadged car

I've been looking around at the manner in which debadged cars behave on the roads.

My impression is that most are driven hard and often recklessly.

I wouldn't buy a car that had been debadged.... would you?

If it is a Diesel, de-badging is compulsory.

On a V6 then it should have a badge.

I removed the Rear Fiat badge on my coupe so it now only has the front ///// and the 20V Turbo on the pillars.

The bravo came to us with the badges taken off, which is good because it is only a 1.2 :rolleyes:

like symonh says unless its a diesel or a tiny petrol engine then i cant really understand why people do it :confused:

worse more when they take the manufacturer logo off aswell then fill the area so its completely blank :tut:

Depends on the car. If I had a 156 V6 I'd be tempted to lose the badges and possibly but 1.6 TS ones on there. Taking them off because you're embarassed about your poxy little engine is a bit daft but as I means of disguising something fairly quick I'd say OK.

The bigger the engine the more reason to remove the badges. Always fun to see the look on the faces to Twerps who want to drag and find that they cannot even keep up when you are not even driving hard :lol:

However here in Australia the 147 gets 2 engines...Petrol 2.0 and Diesel 1.9.....and even when the badge is removed from a diesel, the tractor noise from under the bonnet and the soot from the rear tells us quickely and easily who is not an Alfa enthusiast and the cost of runnuing weighs on their mind. ;)

I drive my badges cars and my debaged cars the same, and a friend who always left the badges on and thrashed the 'proverbial' out of his cars always went to the max on detailing his cars. Top dollar on trade in was always achieved and maximium driving pleasure as well...so in reality you cannot tell who looks after or does not look after a car.

Never in a million Years would I de-badge an Alfa Romeo....:wow:

.....and I really don't see the point in it anyway on other Cars !!!!!!.......:confused:

What are the statistics that support the fact? How many cars did you count to be de-badged, and how many of that count drove within the bounds of acceptability?

No statistics... no figures.... in fact no facts......as I said it was an "impression" :)

I once drove around in an Escort Estate badged as an 1100.... it had a 1600 crossflow race prepared engine in it with suspension and boots to match...

Now that was fun... the opposite of debadging


[and yes.... it was a long time ago :D]

My wife's Corsa (a 1.2 SXI+) has all it's badges removed; and replaced with Irmsher ones. Looks cool; but then perhaps it's the Irmsher kit rather than it being debadged that causes the effect :cool:

My 200Sx had no badges on the back, was nicely smoothed and had afterburner rear clusters. Looked the bees knees and much nicer than standard.

It was great fun.... four on board... plus a an enormous toolkit for the race car.... tents and even a roof rack...


All the traffic light dragsters were left way behind :D


Unfortunately the Marcos race car dropped a half shaft after 2 hours around the 'ring :(

There is a guy around here that runs a Rover 620 Turbo.

It looks like a regular 620, but instead of a badge on the back it has a stick on question mark.

Votes yes. My 156 was debadged when I got it. If it wasn't I'd remove them myself anyway as it looks nicer. Should I ever put a badge on it would be a 1,6 (it is a 3,0 :) )

one of my old bosses drove a 318ci with the badges removed, he was a ****. Nuff said.:lol:
See that all the time, muppets buying 316i / 318i / 116is and removing the badges to hide the pathetic base model. Occasionally with optional "M" badge.

Confession time: I debadged mine.

When I bought it, whoever resprayed the car didn't rebadge it properly. So it said:

T.Spark ------------------ 16v

The badges were too low as well. Considered getting the GTV script badge, and positioning everything properly (asking someone for millimetre measurements). But then debadged it to see and just stuck (or rather, unstuck!) with it.

Bootlid

Only other car I'd debadged was a Citroen ZX diesel (NA - no turbo) because one of the wee gits round my way had started picking it off, so it said "ROEN ZX", and the 1.9D on the wings was a bit of a giveaway to the slowness of the thing.
