I want de-rust and clean of dual mass flywheel for my 147 1.9 JTD 8v. What is idea? Steel brush grinding or resurfacing? After the grinding I might try cleaning from grease, (oil or lubricant). What is the best fluid for de-greasing? Is a brake cleaner good chioce?
Thanks for yours help...

Why you want to do it? What happened? If it is just a cluch dust - brake cleaner will do. If there is something wrong with it - bin it and put solid flywheel instead.

I had oil leak and my clutch plate is unusable as a flywheel too. That is a main reason for a change of the clutch plate and need of the cleaning of a flywheel It was under the rust because of staying out of Alfas gearbox some days ago...
Regarding to DMF vs. SMF - it is old dilema for conversation...

But why almost all manufacturers put a DMF in their car?

DMF's....... it's the work of the Devil really, along with EGR valves, ECU's, Lambda sensors/ cats, fly-by-wire controls oh and..... drop links!
All unecessary with only two purposes:
To perplex the average motorist and prevent them from working on their cars confidently..... and...... To lighten their pockets in the process.
