I hit a random bit of concrete on the middle of the road a couple of weed ago. Took the tyre off to see a dent inwards in the alloy. Is this sort of thing fixable? With the dealer or with an independent wheel shop?

I've bent a number of alloy wheels over the years. Dealer (Volvo in those days) invariably said that bending alloy wheels can result in hairline cracks which are not repairable. That was claimed to be Volvo's official position. Consequently they said the only option was to buy new wheels.

I would not trust an alloy which has been bent and then heated and repaired. It might look ok but I have seen Alloys which have grenaded themselves at motorway speeds as a result of being damaged at some point in their life, and the car was usually in a pretty sorry state as well

Repaired in two days at a quoted price of £60-£75 they checked for cracks and there weren't any visible atleast. Haven't picked it up yet.
