The breaker GTV that I bought had one of these chips installed so I thought I would give it a try on my Spider. So unplugged ECU and immo box, plugged in the GTV ones with immo box antenna dangling. Held GTV key near antenna and used my key in ignition. Started fine no warning lights so went for a spin. Runs fine and does seem to have more low down torque. They recommend using high octane so will give that a go. Anybody else tried one of these chips?

Im fairly certain all these chips do (if anything) is advance the ignition timing. So play at your own risk.

98RON will certainly help, but depending on the skills of the monkey who made it you run a significant chance (IMO) of seriously damaging your engine through detonation.

I can quickly swap between ECUs so I did a back to back test and it definitely feels more responsive low down so must be doing more than adjusting ignition. Will run it for a while and see what it does to mpg.
