Hi all,

I consider myself to have a little knowledge (it is just a little) of car mechanics however this is one that gets me and im hoping someone can explain.

whats the difference between a cyclinder head leaking on a car and it blowing?

Assuming my local garage is right they have told me my GTA needs a gasket replaced and the whole job will cost around £60. When I had the gasket done on my Rover VVC a few years back it cost me £600.

Any info, very much apprecaited.

OH meant to say, if the cyclinder head gasket had all been done around 4 months ago and less that 4000 miles would it be normal to expect this fault to occur again?

If done recently it shouldn't have gone again. £60 is too cheap to do a head gasket. Also the HGs on the v6 are not known for going. What are the symptoms? Is it losing water or is there a white emulsion on the filler cap or dipstick?
Mine has brown gunk in the water but it is not a HG problem.

Right, well if that is the case and it was done 4 months ago the first thing I would do is take it back to the garage that did it last time and tell them, see what they say
