Hi,

The front brake discs and pads on 2.0 TS GTV were changed 2years and 11K miles ago. The discs have a lot of surface corrosion, particularly towards the edge of the disc.

What are the fix options for this? I'm thinking about taking the wheels off and cleaning the disc surfaces with an abrasive and then som ehard braking to re-bed in.

I've a photo from under the car.

Thanks, Steve

They aren't too bad - I wouldn't bother doing anything! To clear the corrosion you'd have to remove a lot of the disc surface, leaving you with a disc that is not flat across its working area.

The only real cure, in my opinion, is to replace the discs.

As Dave says, its normal and don't worry about it as its the area that the brake pad does not cover.
Look at the picture again.
The area the OP is talking about is well within the area covered by the pads.

To me it looks like the pads have a groove worn in them and they aren't covering properly now.
