Helped my brother this weekend to change all discs/pads on his 2005 GT 1.9 JTD.

Bought all Bosch parts from ebay. Cost around £150 for the lot.

Fronts were a doddle but the rear discs turned out to be TOO BIG! We assumed the wrong discs had been sent and just put the old one back on.

New discs are 276mm in diameter and listed as all GTs from 2004 onwards. This seems correct as after lots of googling it seems there is only one size of rear disc for the GT and that is 276mm. But they are too big for my brothers car!

Unfortunately, I didn't measure the old disc before putting it back on, but it was smaller by about 20mm IIRC.

The new pads are exactly the same as the old pads - newer type with NO spring on them.

When I got home I had a quick look at my own rear discs (GT 1.9JTD 2007) and did a quick approx measure. They appear to be 276mm and with the same pads.

Question is: What have we done wrong or IS there 2 different size rear discs for the GT?

ePER only lists one size rear disc for the GT (the 276mm).
Sounds like your brothers somehow has the 251mm setup from a normal 147...

Okay, now measured my brother's rear discs and they ARE 251mm

The calipers look the same as mine though, as are the pads.

So, it would appear some GTs have the smaller rear discs. They look original and the 276mm discs won't fit inside the backing plate.

This does seem odd.

I changed the rear pads and discs on my 2007 GT a few months back, and everywhere only quoted the 276mm size.
There were different front options if I remember correctly, but rears all the same.
Wonder if someone on the production line picked them out of the wrong parts bin?? Or they have been changed post production for some reason?

Something is definitely not right there, no GT should have those smaller disks. What engine does it have? Did he buy it new or second hand.. if second hand, has it been HPI'd?
