Would you suggest going back to a standard carb setup as a starting point, or maybe 32 or 33 mm chokes with 55 idles. I won’t hold you to it!

Hi James, yes I'd suggest 33 mm chokes , as you already have the cams fitted, but definitely get a set of 55 idles, as the 50's in your Dellortos are smaller than a standard engine should be.
I run 50 F8's in my mildly tuned Ti Super Rep, (in 40DCOE's), and Dellorto idle jets always seem to be higher numbers for the same engine tune, so 55's should certainly be better.
I'll have a look into RR's for you,
Steve

I should have also said the engine suffers from fuel stand off, probably as a result of the cams. Has anyone fitted the Jim Evans 11.2mm cams as a pair or otherwise, if so how did it work out, any thoughts on standoff?

Have a look at JPR Tuning in Yate. 07539 457545
They look like a new company, but say they specialise in Weber, Dellorto & other carbs, and most importantly, classic cars.
I have no knowledge of them, but might be worth going down and having a look to see what sort of feel you get.
If you look at the pics on their gallery, it's almost all old school stuff like ours.
It's the only one I can find in your area that looks old school enough.

This post seems to have wandered from the original topic, still engine based though I guess. I don’t mind at all but might it be worth a moderator moving James Allison’s posts into a new post. Hope this doesn’t upset anyone.👍

I’ve now spoken with CA’s suggested rolling rd man, nice bloke lots of knowledge, he builds and races Alfa nord engines, I’m hoping he can look at it in the next few weeks. We discussed my spec, i need to check the compression ratio which should be 10.4.1 or slightly above as it may not be enough to make the CA Jim Evans 11.2mm cams work properly. QUESTION. Has anyone out there used these cams in conjunction with the CA 10.4.1 high comp pistons, if so how did it go? Steve, I’m going to contact the Yate firm this week, thanks very much for that, I’m not sure how I missed them when I was looking.
