Hey Guys

Picked up a beautiful 159 Q4 from the dealer on Friday  only to return it on Sunday:depressed:.

There is what can only be described as a clunk coming from under the car. It is apparent on initial start up and then seems to be accelerator dependant. Whenever I touch the gas pedal, clunk and when I release I get the same noise.

Obviously, the dealer will fix the issue but have been unable to find a problem thus far so have booked it into a specialist late in the week.

It would seem to me to be an engine mount issue given the symptoms, but then I know next to nothing about cars, any ideas out there?

Check the centre & rear bush on the propshaft, not sure if it would clunk on start up only when driving and selecting gears normally. Exhaust may hit the body on start up but i'd of thought that would been easy to spot

Yeah, the noise on start up is identical to the gas pedal related noise so I assumed it was the same issue.

Your point about selecting gears reminded me that it does clunk when going from park to drive and vice versa.

Sounds like the propshaft rubber bushing mounts (if you are lucky)

Just picked the car up. After a week of trying to find problem in drive system turns out the flexible exhaust couplings? had seized. Car now good as new and me very happy.
