Hi

I have looked/searched for the answer to this but cannot find anything... can anyone help!?

There is a rattle (more like a clicking noise) which comes from the drivers side wheel/wheel arch area. It happens when steering at slow speeds or when performing parking manouvers etc. It does it all the time and isnt something which comes and goes. I can only decribe it at a clicking/clunky noise and not a rattle as such. It sounds like there is something lose which is banging against something. It can only be heard from the outside or when my window is opening.

Any ideas what this could be or anyone else experienced the same problem.

Thanks
Rob

I had something which sounds very similar to what you describe and it did it when pulling left out of my road, or parking spaces for example. I took it into Alfa and they fixed the problem, I was told it was a worn CV joint and a "dry bush". Took less than 24 hours and I had a Mito courtesy car.

Thanks for that - That's really helpful. I will be running it into Alfa the weekend.

Is this a common problem on Giuliettas at all? Anyone else had the same problem.

Surprised that an 18mth old car can have this problem as I've just read this is something which goes on old cars as a rule!

Thanks

Hi

Yes i took to Alfa and picked it up yesterday. All fixed; needed a new CV joint and wheel bearings. But driving away from Alfa yesterday, the passanger side is doing exactly the same. I suppose I couldnt hear it clicking as drivers side was clicking so much.

So if your taking yours in to be looked at - make sure you get them to check both sides!

Mines a December 2010 (60 plates) if that helps - only done 17,500 miles. I have only had the car 4 weeks and done 800 miles. Not sure what would of caused it but I'm 100% sure it was clicking when I picked the car up.

Hi - Yes it was a used car. 18mths old.

I believe the car had been stored for some time. I know the original tax had ran out 31/3/12 and I took delivery end of June... But I know it was sitting around way before 31/03/12, probably since January 2012.

Possible that the lurications in the CV joints could of dried up!

Hi I've got a 60 plate gqv and there was a clunking noise every time I turned to full lock. The first time it went into Alfa they changed the cv joint and said it was fixed but as soon as I went into my drive on the way home full lock and there it was again do I got it back in they couldn't find what was causing it so they replaced the steering rack problem fixed pretty scarey on a car that's done 10000 miles

I was speaking to western Alfa about this. It is a mismatched bearing on the front wheel hub carrier. The fix needs a new hub carrier/steering knuckle and bearing at a cost of over ÂŁ400 a side just for the parts.

There is an official service bulletin about it, maybe worth a read if you can get hold of it.

This applies specifically to what Burgess Anthony posted.
