So I managed to find someone locally who could cut and clone my key after ordering a replacement off eBay.

On the Alfa immobilizer, if I stick the key in and the cloning didn't work correctly, will it lock or wipe the currently stored codes?

I haven't had the nerve to put it in the ignition yet. My neighbor told me how he stuck one of his Mercedes keys accidently in his other Mercedes and it ended up wiping all the codes from the car as it went in to some locked down/protection mode.

Thanks

Nop, no lock or wipe of the currently stored codes, car will just refuse to start and the key light will shine.

Hi, If the correct chip was used in the new key, there wont be a problem.
The cloning machine would have said "successful" or "Unsuccessful".
If the wrong chip has been used, It shouldnt have any affect apart from not starting.

Merc vito's and sprinters can get upset if an unrecognised key is used.
Most other makes just sulk for a minute or so.
