Hi All,
I had my reverse light start to fail, which unfortunately triggers the reverse light sensors as well, which I have become far too used to. When I revved the engine the reverse light would come on intermittently so I immediately suspected the wiring to to gearbox.
What I found was the cable was under a large amount of stress as it was cabled too tight from between where it is tethered via a cable tie mount to the front of the battery box to the gearbox. There needs to be some slack here as the engine rocks under acceleration. There wasn't enough slack in the cable to adjust it so I just ended up detaching the tether as it seemed unlikely the wire would tangle with anything.
Problem solved and I will get the dealer to look at it when it goes back in next.
I swear this one was made on a Friday.
cheers,
Anthony

The 12V V6 164 had a similar issue with the ECU water temperature sender. The 155 V6 with the ECU/Lambda heater/fuel pump relay & fuse cluster on the bulkhead & IACV wire. Seems they are still at the same old tricks.
