hi all,


i wish to charge my battery...

what would people recommend?

i intend to put it on a very slow charge. but not disconnect the earth.

is there a problem doing this ??

or does everyone recommend taking off the earth wire?

Another Alfa myth. Put charger onto battery, switch on. Nothing will explode, no memories will be wiped, no ECUs will fry. Keep the faith :)

Quite likely to damage the alternator though, especially if you use a cheap charger that not rectified very well. That doesn't only apply to Alfas.

i used to charge my last car, a 2002 golf, with no hassle, the charger is new and pretty good, with a 6v or 12 charge and a slow medium or fast, i obviously choose slow :)

i may charge the battery and use it as an excuse for an ecu reset :)

and i usually connect the charger leads, then connect the power, that way there are no sparks !!

i charged the battery in situ.

no problems, did a trickle charge.

all is fine, nothing blew up and the battery is now fully charged.

All my cars are fitted with a fly cable to the battery, kept batteries charge up last year in the cold weather, never a problem. Connect and be happy.
