to unlock/lock the car i seem to have to get quite close and stand by the front drivers side wing to get the signal through so im guessing this is the battery in the fob. the thing is i had some work done on the car but before i was handed back my keys i noticed the alfa badge was missing so i asked where it was and after a lot of hunting about they found it but before i could realise what they were doing the bloke had stuck it back in with super glue and im not sure if i saw a screw underneath where the badge goes. do i need to get to the screw if there is one to open the key fob up?, hope not because he used superglue

usually you need a flat headed screwdriver to prise the 2 1/2's apart.

there is starting point near the blade

You don't need to open the key to change the battery. Look underneath it and you will see a little screw. Turn that about 30 degrees from the little lock logo to the unlock logo (duh!) and the battery holder can be taken out.
