Hi can anyone please help???/

My boyfriend is stuck at his work (which thankfully has a workshop) and has established his 147 alteranator has gone. Can anyone advise as to how to change this please??

I don't know the full answer, but it's not easy. It's right down at the bottom/rear of the engine.

To start with you'd need to remove the auxiliary belt. To get access to it from above, you'd need to remove the power steering reservoir, the inlet chamber, and the power steering pump.

Not sure about access from below. It might be possible with the intermediate shaft removed, but I've never tried it...

 good luck, not an easy job to do yourself on an alfa, with or without a workshop! I replaced mine in November on my 147, but by god it took me a whole day and a lot of sore fingers to get to it!
