Hello people recently acquired a lovely Twinspark. -anyone out there tried to replace the silencer/rear cat section on a CF3 engine? Part seems to be not readily available. Contacted a few specialists and they said never had a call for that part! Cat and pipe OK its the small rear silencer that is on the way out. Any advice on a work around gratefully received? (its Item 4 on enclosed)

Hi Martyn, I have a Phase 2 CF3 Spider and I have replaced the silencer on that section 4 with a low restriction Lukey Sports unit then split into two pipes that removed everything from the Lukey to the tail pipes. I found she crackled and popped beautifully on trailing throttle BUT the noise was headache inducing at speed. I've since put a 300mm hotdog near each tip and for me it's much more liveable. I do have a YouTube vid titled 'Storms Bark' that gives you a glimpse of what's under her and how she sounds.

I can confirm that that section 4 is no longer available. I managed to get hold of an OE one unused but secondhand when I replaced mine a year or so ago.

Thanks for the feedback guys -sorry for delayed reply but AO password issues couldn't get on from mobile over the weekend.
Cannot understand why the part not available - surely every CF3 owner will have an issue with this silencer at some point? Ideal solution would be cut the pipe and spigot fit and clamp a replacement silencer.

If the cat part on yours is OK then I would just weld in a replacement silencer, or straight pipe if you prefer. Quick & easy job, I do stuff like this all the time.

Yes spotted that but looks like a hole in and centre support missing -guess im being too fussy?....

Half the parts on the car are no longer supplied.... I don't think needs of the owner come in to Alfa's decision making on whether to continue supplying a spare part! :lol:

Hi Corky thanks for the link unfortunately just back from holidays and don't seem to get notifications on here. -Would be interested in any CF3 exhaust parts cheaper always better!!

There's quite a few on eBay for around £160-£200 claiming to be OE quality. I was wondering if they are any good too. I've also seen this...
