I will be up for new disks in a while I guess even though they never seem to wear. :)

I'm just going for the standard 330mm. Brembos on the front from EB Spares. A couple of questions.

Anybody use ceramic pads and are they worth it? I hear that there are some that aren't really ceramic in the sense of the word and others that are real ceramics? Well ceramic and copper to be exact. Any brands suggested if you think they're worth it?

If ceramics aren't worth it which pads do you suggest? I don't thrash or race so standard ones would be more than adequate. I don't need real hard ones.

Secondly, when changing the fronts is it usual to change the rears as well or is it just a case of the rears lasting a lot longer and just waiting?

Just another thing. Do the GTs show when the brakes are worn and if so how much notice do you get?

Would appreciate any input.

Thanks,

Vic

Vernier measurement of disc thickness. Min thickness sometimes visibly stamped on the disc. Sounds a good idea those pads you mention if the longevity we have experienced with ceramic disc taps?:):
Actually it's not the longevity so much as the fact that they leave less dust, so my 16 spoke alloys wouldn't take an hour each to clean and they are supposed to be less corrosive with their dust. Also supposedly better performance and longevity. Ferraris have them. :)

BTW I'm staying cool but literally in the last half hour I went to the shops, parked my car, came out and some lovely person has reversed into my car and scrammed. Grrrrrrrrr. It's just a small crimp near the Alfa grille but I can bet it will require bumper removal and re-spray. The grille has got a little chip about 1mm. in the plastic chrome so looks like that will have to be replaced as well. This is after spending hours getting my car perfect today. I give up. I have to fix it because it's the only visible imperfection on an otherwise perfect car.
