Well, another upgrade I am thinking to do to my Alfa 147 1.6 is to change its engine for a 2.0 one. Does anyone knows what is required to do that?

He already has 305mm Brembos sitting waiting to go on the car.

The 1.6 gearbox could stay, but you would be pulling higher revs than with a 2.0 gearbox (but no higher than you do now).

If your 1.6 has the variable intake and variator, you may be able to just swap the basic engine and remap your ECU to cope with the extra fuel required.

I dont know if you have access to a cheap 2 litre, but you could consider a turbo conversion (e.g. from autodelta) for not much more than a new 2 litre engine. I believe they get about 220 bhp froom the 1.6 for about 5k GBP, look on their website for accurate info.

IMO thats a better bang for buck.

As far as I know (I did a small research as I've been thinking about such SWAP) the major problem is not ECU but the body computer. It manages signals from all peripherials, options, etc. including the engine. Once the car is being build the body computer is programmed to work with exactly this engine.

There are no technical problems - it will fit! But will work? Nobody could tell me so I gave up.

So, only thing i need is the engine itself and??? What do you mean with the body computer the computer that manages all other things in the car? such as onboard computer and those kind of things??

David, i think you are asking if its the 105 or 120 hp, dont u? It is the 120

Yes, that's right. Only the engine.

The body computer is being programmed once in factory. It is possible that after changing the engine it won't start beacuse of the different data coming to the body computer. A true matrix... I was told that by Alfa garage.

They said it is possible to solve that problem but noone knew how  .
So I gave up.
