hi all,keep getting engine warning light coming on and off intermittently,i have read the error code,which says faulty camshaft position sensor.
car is a 99 156 2.0ts and runs spot on apart from occasional erratic idling.
what does the cam position sensor actually do,if it fails will the car still run,light might stay off for weeks,then comes on just after starting and goes off when the engine is upto 90deg temp,do i need to change it a.s.a.p or is it ok to leave it,cheers all.

Check, and clean, the blue connector at the back/left of the engine bay under the plastic cover.

When was the CAM belt last changed?
