Hello everyone!
First of all congratulations on a great forum !

I know the subject of cambelts/tensioners has been covered at length before, but I could do with some further advice.
My '96 2 litre is due for the cambelt to be changed now. My local Alfa dealer has quoted £412, Alfaid in Maidenhead £496. Both these figures are much higher than I have read previously on the forum posts.
I would do the job myself, except I understand you need the special tools kit & that costs £115, rather a lot for a one off job.
Any suggestions ? Does anyone know another Alfa specialist in the Reading area ?

ok then follow this lot.

timing belt £34.71

balance belt £63.09

tensioner £59.36 all inc vat and prices are from the latest c.d

labour would be around £100. inc vat

so it would be around £257 all done. but it does depend on the labour rate.

Hi JimB,

I recently got the Cambelt, Balancer belt and Tensioners done at Gonnella Brothers in Catford for 220+Vat.

The number is 0181 690 0060, 9/13 Catford Hill.

I spoke to Adrian (AlfaAid) about this, he said he couldn't even get the bits for that price. He also said that Gonnella have been around for donkeys and are OK.

I saw an ad in Autoitalia recently which detailed prices for genuine 155 service parts, including the belts: can't remember the prices but it was cheap! Might be worth getting hold of an issue?

Good luck!
