What a way to end the year. On my way to Cape Town and the alfa gt 1.9 jtd broke down. All the places are close. Can any one give me info how to replace the cambelt and how the timing lines/markings are line up. Will the car be able to start or will it need to be reset on a computer? Any one please help!

Isn't it a General Motors engine?

You need pins (bolts) to line up the gearing, etc. And as Coure_Sportivo says, it's going to take more than a cambelt ... the 1.9 uses sacrificial rockers, so these will need to be replaced.

And the water pump, which could be the reason the belt failed in the first place (they seize).
