Right then...

Sold the beemer and got 7.5k in my pocket to get an alfa 159 SW.

Looking at 1 owner (rep car) 57 plate 2.4 qtronic with lots of extras, sat nav, xenon, cloverleaf 18" alloys, parking sensors front and back (list goes on!!) anyway the down point is that is has covered 116,000k has full alfa history and looks lovely and will get a lot of hange from the 7.5k!!

What is the thoughts on high mileage? Should I steer clear of the qtronic I know the fuel consumption will probably be around the low to mid 30's which in fat my Beemer only did anyway.

My other issue maybe is that I don't do that long journeys really but love the 2.4 grunt and power if you need it. Slighlty concerned will fall for it and then get endless issues due to mileage??

I would rather buy one with high miles as its unlikely to have the niggles some of the lower mileage cars have suffered from - lets face it someone has percivered with it for 116,000 miles.

The Qtronic removes pretty much the chance of abused driveshafts, gearbox bearing wear and clutches.

Expect 29mpg though.

The only problems with the 2.4 are the DPF and EGR, both can be removed. As long as its been serviced to the recommended miles you shouldn't have any other problems.

Enjoy :)

It should be OK, although you will be stepping into slightly uncharted territory as there really aren't that many higher mileage 159s around so maybe not all the possible problems have come to light yet.

If you look around you may be able to get one with sub-100k for the same money.

Sounds promising, is the qtronic more thirsty than a manual I have a auto vw t4 and that is probably 5-10mpg worse but a pretty ancient late 90's box and car creation??!

Car looks lovely and cant really find another with those options on for the money is on for 6.9k from indy alfa specialist should be able to get something off hopefully too maybe!! Let you know what I decide seeing it at 11am tomorrow morning??:)

Q-tronic's supposedly do 5-6mpg less than manuals. They are also higher in emmissions and therefore taxed at the higher rate. Think its currently £210pa for manual and £260 for Q-tronics!

The Q-tronic's do drive really nice though. I almost went for one before opting for a manual 2.4 TI :)

Right then, I am now the proud owner of a aurora blue 2.4 qtronic 159 sw. Drove this morning and was smitten before I turned the first corner, fortunately it's had a steering rack 10k ago and had dpf service etc done recently not sure what that means but can't be bad. Paid 6.9k in end and being delivered and taxed in that. Got a lot of toys including cloverleaf refurbed alloys, factory sat nav, xenons with washers, roof rails, front and rear park sensors, list goes on.

Getting it on Wednesday hopefully. Give you an update when it arrives.

Fantastic. Sounds a lot of car for the money.

Obviously we need pictures. Not sure I've seen one in that blue. In fact I can't recall seeing any 159s in blue!

Warning on the sat nav, if you don't like it (and I thought mine was horrible), it's very difficult to change as the hole in the dash it fits in is bigger than double din. So get a TomTom...

As said above, should be fine. I have a 2.4 Ti Qtronic and love it. The box is a little lazy, but in sport mode or sequential it is pleasing to drive with more than enough power
I have the same but never bothered to use the sport button as it goes fast enough for me.....:p

It's been coming soon since at least October! They have no idea when they are getting it, or if they are getting it.

I've finally given up asking them for updates...
They are buying them from china by the looks of it. Check www.Lightinthebox.com for a direct supplier.

I recently bought a 2.4 QTRONIC TI with all the extras and can confirm it's a great drive! I do recommend the removal of the DPF and EGR though. Had mine done by AHM last week and it's improved performance, drivability and economy significantly. Aside from the extra 10mpg!! ( I was getting 32, I now get 42) what's most noticeable is the fact it changes gear much less! It's more than capable of sitting at 2k rpm and just swallowing up vast amounts of motorway with the least effort! It cost mr 720 quid TP do but worth every penny and will pay for it's self very soon with the MPG increase.

I want to do the DPF/EGR delete & remap, but worry about how long the Qtronic box will put up with the extra power

If anything the box is better behaved now. I didn't go for the max power approach though, just a little more torque and power instead. Speak to Ady at AHM he knows what hd is doing.
