Buying a Brera - a good deal?

I'm looking at a £5,500 2.4JTDm Brera with 84,000 miles on the clock - a Red SV.
It currently has a wheel bearing (rear right-hand side) that needs to be replaced. I'm waiting for the dealer to do the work before I take it back out for a second test drive.
Does this look like a good deal?
nothing stood out as wrong on the first test drive, but reading up the tips on here will give me more to look for second time around.

Cheers,

has it other common things done? inlet manifold? exhaust manifolds when cambelt was last time replaced? any power steering issues? thats all rather expensive jobs... (500+ each) What I've done is don't bother about milage but have at least few of those things done... I end up with 140k car but I paid less than 3k... and already put about 5k miles with almost no issues (only thing I've done is replacing key slot- another common and expensive job. you can't open car with central locking when cold)

Hi mate, I'd study the history thoroughly, maybe somebody already knows it on here? Having owned the same model for nearly 7 years, I can vouch that things can go wrong, and of course things do wear out. Nevertheless, I still love the car and how it drives. It's a cruiser and eats up motorway miles effortlessly. If you do go ahead, I'd be contacting the previous owner to get his low down ... 5 mins on this forum will tell you how much people love talking about their Alfa's and it will give you a good understanding of anything else (mods) that may have been done. Good Luck with the purchase

The Alfa specialist dealer it is at has serviced it for the last few years and says they know the car.
I've not had a chance to look through the service history in detail yet - but will at my next test drive.

A couple of new points - my Swift has developed two faulty injectors and will take £1,000 for the privilege to fix it. this may impact my immediate plans to upgrade.
Secondly, I've made a note of the mileage I do now since I've moved closer to work - it is 16 miles each way on A and B roads, with the occasional longer 100 mile journey in once a fortnight. Would a petrol rather than a diesel - so the 2.2 - make more sense?

I think with that sort of mileage i would be considering the 2.2 yes ... there will be plenty of people on here to concur with that too. I used to live close to work until i moved out to the sticks and the return wasn't that great, perhaps even less than what the 2.2 would achieve.
Now that I'm doing 70 miles a day I'm getting a great return, which is purely through luck as I met my wife [the reason why i'm out in the sticks] 6 months after buying the Brera, maybe I had a premonition.

Hi there, I bought a 3.2 Brera Q4 in the middle of November, it's 57 reg had doneabout 54k miles and had just had the timing chain done before it went up for sale at a used car dealership.

I am very happy with it, don't seem to have any issues and I will be happy if it stays like that! (Touch wood) I love the car, lovely to drive, I can't speak for the 2.2 brera JTS but the 3.2 does have a couple of small flat spots in 2nd and 3rd when down in the rev range but it soon picks up, I have heard a remap can sort this out. Other than this I love the car. I'm sure whichever one you choose to sort your needs you will like.

Any other tips on usual wear and tear items - tyres etc.
I think I'm swaying towards the 2.4 diesel, but am yet to take the 2.2 out which could change things.
If, as has been said, the odd weekly longer run will keep the DPF working ok, then that may be my answer. Plus the diesel is in red...
