2.0 t/s 16 valve engine in 145 QV

Spent the weekend working on the car. In the rain. Mostly in the dark. The heater now works which is good.

Changed the oil and filter. Used flushing oil in it for the first time too. Its now throwing plumes of blue smoke out of the exhaust under load above 3000 rpm :( :( . Anyone got any ideas?

I'm hopeing valve stem oil seals. Is this common or Am i looking at rebuiding the bottom end? Theres no knocking or anything like that.

I was chatting to a mechanic (specialist) a couple of years ago who said to NEVER use flushing oil in a 16v Twinspark. Can't remember why but basically they dont like it.

Run it for a while and see if the thinner stuff gets burnt off

Hmmmmm I've heard similair about using it in older engines as the "cruddy" oil can actually help stop worn seals from leaking.

i agree with wrinx dont use flushing oil...it washes of all the sticky burnt oil from the valve stems and piston rings, then it leaks.

the best way to drain oil is to run the engine untill its realy hot then let it stand over night and drain it the next day WITHOUT first starting the engine.

The first time i ever had me variator turn noisey on me was immediately after doing an oil change and i'd used the engine flush stuff.

only fixed it by replacing the variator.

now i'm not saying it broke the variator... but it didn't help things and free'd up some good thick stuff that was keeping the egnine quiet.

as i say.. i'd never user it again.
