Hi
advise needed
After a recent service the actuating lever on intake manifold has broken away on my GT JTD the lever arrangement between the drive module and the tumble flaps has just come off (told that it has warn due to soot build up). i have been told that i need a new intake manifold and exhaust gas re-circulation unit (over £1200 quoted) i have found both parts that have been taken off a scrap car (34K mile). question is should i just buy new parts or will the salvage parts work OK?

any advise would be most welcome

Hi hdseven, thanks for your post,
yes you are right, not going back, a certain independent Alfa Romeo specialist in North London, first went for a service in November, all looked good but a few days later the Engine Management Failure warning came on, so went back in to ask them why as i have not had any problems before, half an hour later i was presented with the lever arrangement off the manifold and told it had broken off and that was the problem and to fix would need new this and new that, i said as I can still drive it i would think about it. however on the way home that night the Glow plug warning came on! this was only due to a lead that had come off but i asked the (different) garage that fixed that about the lever arrangement and they said it had been snapped off. not sure if this is true as i know things can break but a bit of bad luck this all happening just after a service. Anyway got the used parts for £135 and getting them fitted for £50 at the same time as the MOT in a few weeks so hopefully all will be well again.
