the timing belt on my 04 plate 156 jts broke the other day
there is engine damage although the garage rekon they can fix it, for £1500
has anyone out there has this done? will the engine ever run like it should again?

Might be worth getting one of the Mods to move this to the 156 lounge, you will get a better response there

You can get a complete recon engine for around £1800 for the JTS. I bet Autolusso could repair the one you have for much less though.

cheers, i'll have a look around at other options.
problem is the car is stuck up in perth and as luck/fate would have it the belt went right outside the local garage i use for servicing.
