Brexit won’t finish us off at all. It will finish the arrogant unelected superstate.

Germany benefit from a artificially weak currency to boost their expensive exports. Smaller Eastern European countries hold their hands out. Everyone in between gets no benefit.

If every country in the eu had a referendum like we did. The EU wouldn’t exist.

The EU is a closed market with ridiculous taxes. That is why they are scared of free trade with other countries and want us to align with their ridiculous rules for a trade deal.

Imagine if we could buy from the USA without ridiculous import duty and vat on the cost of items and delivery.

How is it that European products are cheaper to buy from the USA including shipping before they add EU tax and duty? The answer is simple.

Italy will probably be next to leave. France is burning even if the BBC won’t show us. Then you have the issue on the Greek border.

I love Europe but hate the EU. Divisive media try to make hating the eu, the same as hating Europe.

The same way you’re instantly shouted down as “racist“ if you raise genuine, sensible concerns around Islamic immigration. It’s pathetic.
You need to read this entire thread because I really cant be bothered to point out the enormous level of ignorance and deluded absurdity involved in that post!

I can't help feeling there is something very wrong with people who do that sort of thing.
This isn't the first time a virus is suspected of coming from china (or more accurately the wet markets in Asia)
is there not something the world can do to stop this.
I realise it is something they have done for generations, and is probably thought of as normal to them.
But it effects and costs the whole world, not only finances but lives.
Mick.
Lets home China has some good public liability insurance, its going to need it.

The referendum spoke and so did the general election. There is a 100m trade deficit in their favour. If they don’t want a free trade deal I’m fine with it.

EU is a unelected superstate. It’s anti democratic to its core. There is no good argument for the eu unless you’re a socialist.

“Correct” me lol. Please go ahead. I bet you wouldn’t so condescending in tone in person. Even after a bottle of your JD.

Like I said earlier. I don’t argue on the internet. It’s pointless.

Im happy to discuss/debate things, but small men acting big behind a keyboard isn’t impressive.

It is always funny when forums have meets and you actually get to see the most mouthy and opinionated in the flesh.

Edit. On reflection car forums are not the best place to discuss politics. There is enough division in society through identity politics being pushed by social media.

We all like Alfa’s so I’m not getting drawn into another divisive Brexit debate. Especially after being stuck inside for the last few days and for the next few months.

A bottle?...I'm no drinker....two or three small ones is enough....a bottle would probably kill me!
And one of my golden rules for posting anything is that I won't post anything that I would not say to someone's face. If everyone did the same on here it would be a rather nicer place I think.

Also , we don’t introduce each other to give an idea of why somebody might hold their opinions. Words are 8% of communication so you don’t know the way the poster looks when typing. I know you were a VW group dealership employee, for example. Kev.K however could have his reasons for believing in Brexit. My heart sinks when I read that “the referendum spoke” and stuff about supposed democracy and this discussion kicks off again..

People do claim the EU is an unelected superstate, and I would not mind if we were really escaping one, if it were not for the fact we are fast becoming at the mercy of another dictatorial superstate. With our nuclear industry, now our steel industry and I dont know how many other 'British' industries being run buy the Chinese, I think I would prefer the EU. And if Britain, as investors, really believed in Britain and supported British business and industry instead of their own interest and off shore accounts, selling off the crown jewels or moving their business to the far east, Dyson for instance, then I could back the principal of Brexit.

Its my opinion, that the fear of the EU is seriously flawed. In fact the EU countries look after their own far better than we do ours, we perhaps should have taken a lesson from France and Germany and not been so pig headed and arrogant.

History will tell the full story.

It comes from bats...not cats or dogs etc. If I'm not mistaken they don't eat bats! Racism pure and simple me thinks.
I think they do actually.
Just because I was talking about foreign people doesn’t make me a racist.
It does appear that since the referendum it’s OK to call anyone a racist that when they mention other race”s. Pathetic.

There are videos on Youtube and have been doing the rounds on Facebook etc from China of people eating bat soup, eating live frogs, boiling dogs in huge pans which are still twitching and barking. Don't search for them, you just don't want to see them, some horrific stuff. I'm all for eating meat and I know some terrible stuff goes on in our abattoirs too, but eating a live animal or cooking a live animal intentionally, especially a mammal is just appalling IMO. Even the more standard stuff like fish, chicken, ducks, they have live animals in cages, a worktop where they kill & butcher them and a grill going right next to it and the same guy does everything including serving it up as street food, with blood, guts and excrement all over the ground and his apron. Its no wonder its a breeding ground for disease.

The ventilator thing.

How incompetent, lazy, willfully stupid and pig-headedly ignorant is this government?
It's the now wilful and obvious lying that gets me. Firstly its stated that we don't need European help thank you very much, then when that backfires because it shows a politics-before-health mentality, Gov.uk concocts a statement about not receiving an email? Really? So the whole EU Coronavirus communications strategy relies on emails, with specific deadlines? F'kin lying bstrds.

I’m sick of hearing obvious rhetoric about doing “everything they can” about issues and thinking it’s as good as actually doing the actions.

I can't believe that they think getting payments to the self-employed no sooner than JUNE is going to stop the vast majority in that group from anything other than serious hardship and ruin. That's just not fast enough, nowhere near. Even the help for employees and businesses isn't coming fast enough. The policies have been announced, but NOBODY seems to be able to actually get their hands on the supposedly promised funds, of any type. The machine shop I'm employed in is in trouble. When Covid really started getting serious a month ago, customers started to withhold payment, so cashflow all but dried up. Some money has trickled in, but we're on 50% wages at the moment. We're still working, at distance obviously, because if we stop then further down the line there will be no money at all. I appreciate that no government can predict or be expected to make perfect decisions in a situation like this, but the lack of fast financial help is what's causing the biggest problems now. I shouldn't be at work at all, but me and millions like me have no choice but to carry on for the sake of our futures, leading to probable further spread of the virus by default. The government's tactics are not sufficient to stop this as swiftly as it could be.
