Hi I've been offered a set of Michelin Primacy 235-45-18 tyres for my Brera jtdm, I see these are 98W but the originals are 98Y spec, the supplier tells me this will be ok but i'm not sure, has anyone had any experience of these fitted to a Brera. thanks.

98W's are shown as standard in my MY06 handbook.

I've got the same on my 2.2 - seem fine + get good reviews on the tyre sites

£155 per corner fitted on mytyres or e-tyres last week.

I would fit Miches if they produced a tyre to the spec of the car.
But they don't.

And fitters here refuse to fit anything except the exact spec:

235/45 R18 98Y XL

May be different in the UK.

98 is the load rating, Fine on both. W and Y are speed ratings. If your gonna go faster than 149mph then make sure you have the Y rating. If not lets face it many many people wont then W rating fine safe upto 149mph.

Upto 149mph is a "V" rating.
"W" is upto 168mph
"Y" is upto 186mph

BUT there is more to it than deciding you won't be going that fast.

As said before nev - my brera had Michelin pilot sports to this spec when I bought it last year, 2 remain but 2 lost to nails! Replaced by Bridgestones.

Check www.Michelin.co.uk To confirm for yourself

Yup. They are there, but they weren't being made when
I changed to Pirelli. (18 months ago) .
If I keep the car another year I'll get those next as they're
well covered with Michelin's OnWay call-out etc.
