Is a Brera practical with two kids aged 7 and 10 do you think?

No way IMHO. The GT is good for adults though as I spent all last weekend in the back of ours. I'm 5'11" and 16 stone!!

If its going to be the only, or main family car, then, I'd advise caution, & maybe think about a GT or 159 instead. If its a 2nd car, with only occasional family usage, then you may get away with it.
I took my kids along to sit in the back. The 7yr old loved it (more than the TT & the 911), possibly due to the glass roof making it feel less claustrophobic than usual. We do go '4-up' in it for short-ish journies, ie up to 1hour or so with no problems.
Matt.

Sounds very like my dilemma - had 2 x TT's, c/w baby seats - loved them. Then a 911 - surprisingly practical, actually. Currently car-less and thinking about all kinds of things. Would like a Brera, and tried the 'will they fit behind me' thing with one, but, unfortunately, no. GT perfect. But there again, so's the RX-8..........mmmmmmmm

As Stori says, genuine 2 + 2's are hard to find - I don't even know why they bothered putting the +2 in the Brera, when no-one I've ever met managed to use them.............it's a real missed opportunity if you ask me.........

What seems to be the problem - and this applies to the TT too, btw - is not the actual size of the car etc, but rather that the rear seats are made too deep. The reason they work in a 911/944/968 - and I've looked at a 944 Turbo recently - is that the seat bases are shallow. I did toy with getting another TT and removing and shortening the seat bases. Drastic I know, but I'd hate to end up on the wrong car over something as relatively easily curable as that. Whether that'd work in a Brera remains to be seen..........anyone got a pic of a Brera with rear seat base removed...???

My soon-to-be-7-year-old son fits happily in the back of my Brera with the passenger seat moved forwards a fair bit. Doubt if there would still be room for Mrs F to fit comfortably in the front. My 10-year-old would struggle in the rear. So what you would really need is a roof box for the wife. :D

In the good old days when Italians used to have children, Alfa Made a lot of genuine 2+2 coupes. These days it seems, from what I have been reading, the Italians have largely stopped breeding and make cars like the 2 +2 legless Brera.....

Agree with manicatel, not a family car by any stretch of the imagination, but I can fit the whole family in mine:)

I think it greatly depends on the height of the driver - I'm quite short (5'7") and the kids (6 and 8) have no trouble sitting behind me for short trips - the big downside is they dont have much of a window.

The only trouble with having to have the seat forward is that a lot of the door is behind me so makes it more difficult to get in and out.

Practical - No
Possible - Yes :D

My girlfriend (5'3") was sat behind me for a few short-ish trips recently. I slid my seat forward - so she (almost) had enough room for her legs but she complained that she was unable to sit upright and had to **** her head slightly to one side. Legroom is not the biggest problem!

Our daughter is happy enough sat behind my girlfriend (when she's in the front passenger seat, of course), but then she's only 5 years old!!!
