I guess the warning light on the dash that looks like a circle with dotted lines around it (not the one that comes on with the handbrake with a ! in the middle) is the wear indicator?

Recently it's started (sometimes.. did it all day yesterday but not this morning) flashing at a rate linked to the speed of the car. Crawling along in traffic it's flashing slowly and as you move up to 70ish it turns in to a blur.

Is that some weird way of saying my pads are worn (I know my back pads are low but I didnt think they were that low) or could it be something else?

Cheers,
Chris

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) but that's the other brake warning light (The one with the ! in the middle of it?)

Red circle with an exclamation mark in the middle is the handbrake / brake fluid level warning light, the red one with three dashes around it on either side is the front brake pad wear warning - which "turns on when the brake pedal is pressed and the front brake pads are found to be worn". If the pads have been replaced maybe there's a reset that hasn't ?

Well the old pads were actually fine but the discs were knackered and they were cheap pads so I replaced both. It's weird that it's flashing all the time (brake pedal pushed or not) and flickers at a rate with the speed of the car :(

I had this. Its the amber pad wear warning light not the red warning light (whcih can flicker if the brake fluid is low)

The reason was the pad wear sensor wire, although disconnected (Brembos on teh v6 doesn't use it) was earthing on the bodywork. The insulation had got damaged when the aux belt snapped.

Trace the wiring back from the hub, it goes from wheel arch into engine bay then up past cambelt cover towards bulkhead.

This is the other light, and it's VERY regular.. like Flash....Flash....Flash when crawling along at 10mph and FLASHFLASHFLASH at 30 :) It's like it's connected to the wheel turning or something. I'll check out the cables and look for wear etc.
