Hi, new on this forum, so i might post in a wrobg part og the forum.

Just got a 159 1.9 JTDM 2006, the saloon/sedan version, a wonderful car, perfect upgrade from my always-broken Alfa 156.

But i really can't figure out the Boot release button in the roof console, nothing happens.. the keyfob is great, but i thinks it's pretty stupid that i have to stop my car, renove the key, open the boot, and then start my car, every time i ned to use my boot while driving.
I hope someone know What might be wrong with the interior release button.

Last owner have installed some LED interior lights in the console, he may have broken the switch, or tugged the cables out of the switch?
In that case, i can't figure out how to remove that roof console without breaking it?

Hope someone is able to hjelp me out :D

In the dash menu you can turn it on or off sounds like you need to turn in on

Yeah, they say so, but i really can't find this meny? Only settings i can find is the dimmer and speed limit function. No boot button settings.

Maybe this setting is for the newer models, or the sportswagon?
I got a '06 saloon

Too busy guy to program menu stationary.
Hope it really works. If not just make sure boot may be opened by mechanical release.
If it works just try to push roof console button a bit harder also both ON and OFF menu settings.
Still not aware which one of them is correct to open boot.
If still not go to the button - someone has been much more eager to press it.

You camn only get the menu when the key is in but don't start the engine. then scroll through the menu. it should say independant boot ,
The menu is much larger when the engine is off . This is a safety feature to keep your eyes on the road.

key in, ignition on, engine not running/vehicle stationary.

Scroll through the menu using buttons on the the headlight/indicator stalk. The setting is 'Indep. Boot'

On = ONLY the key can be used to unlock.
Off = Roof console & key can be used to unlock.

Once you've found it in the menu and disabled / enabled (on /off), press the door lock on the gear stick console, then get out of the car, close the doors and lock the car, un-lock, then lean in and see if the roof release works. I had to do this routine when I disconnected my battery a while back.

But seriously guys, i really cannot find these setup settings, the only settings i can find are the speed limit and light sens. As I've been told i have tried to press the menu button when stationary, both have the car off, and having it run idle. How do i enter these settings you all are talking about? I can't even find the settings for adjusting the clock?? haha..

Thanks for help! I'm probably just such a noobie..

Just a guess...
If you do not see the rest of the menu it could mean that ECU does not consider car stationary.
In fact car should not be stationary still to do that and there exist some small speed in which it is still possible to do. It is a same speed which is needed for activation seat belts alarm buzzing, deactivation of parking distance pictogram including alarm, central lock activation is any, etc. It should be some sensor responsible for this switch over and I would assume it is also works with menu. I am sorry I am not familiar with it personally. Somebody should clarify it. Do other functions described work properly???

Hi, thank you so much taking your time filming this, i eventually made it!
You know, i got the Cannect Nav version, with the big screen, so for some reason all theese settings you all have vern talking of was on the head unit. I didn't even think of checking that, whoops!

Anybody know What happens if i remove the unit? Will I loose the access to these functions? As well as the trip computer?

pretty sure these 159s are the same as most of the rest of fiat group... if you remove connect nav (or any other electrical part of the interior excluding maybe cruise stalk and cigarette lighter) you will have to carry out a 'proxy alignment' with MES. its a simple procedure... MES goes away and asks the CAN to confirm which ECUs and Nodes are connected to the CAN and sorts the rest out itself. Without a proxy alignment you'll run into flashing mileage on the dash node and may or may not regain functionality of the dash node features.

for some reason CN handles car features when its fitted, had the same when i 'upgraded' my old stilo, thought id lost everything on the dash after proxy aligning but it showed up in CN menus. glad you've sorted it though , my next post would have been do you have CN ;)

I know this thread is ancient but what am I missing...

If you can just press the badge at the back to open the boot, why would anyone inside the car need a switch to open it?

Also, I have never seen this button.
