I have a deeper style boot badge on my 2001 GTV Cup that doesn't have the locating tab at the bottom. Every bottom swivel badge I see for sale is the plastic type with the thinner gold surround. Any ideas what part number I need?

Whilst on the subject of boot badge is it possible to take the badge off on its own without renewing the unit itself .Theres cheap recessed stickon badges on Ebay

no the swivel part is not removable on its own

the entire unit though is completely removable in just 3 min

if you get access to the unit in place with the inner carpets removed you will see a large black plastic part if you grab that and twist it this will allow you to remove the plastic part and then once that`s removed you can remove the lock unit itself, obviously you need to unhook the cable that`s hooked to the lock but simple enough, i did not trust the "stickers" variety for mine and took the plunge and went brand new £45 i think

no as i understand it you can not

the aftermarket sticker variants i believe are designed to be over laid onto the original badge that stays in place.

Buy a plastic swivel and swap it over. You may end up having to buy the whole plastic badge but the plastic and metal parts are interchangeable.

Not really looked at it yet but i reckon you should be able to get the badge off the swivel part even if u have to grind/sand it off then buy the above or this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281794658578?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649

for the half the price ,and probably the same .You may find that unlees you grind away at least the edges these stick on ones may not fit over .Dont know till i buy

At least if modify the swivel part to fit this ,in future f its starts look shabby its a cheap fix to put right

I bet neither of those badges are enameled ,they are probably the same as each other .If the originals are enamel then they dont fair very well to age anyway

Buy genuine!

My son bought me a genuine replacement boot badge for Christmas. Did think about the cheap plastic replacement ones but 10 seconds later I decided that I wanted the real thing. As everyone says, these plastic ones will not last in the same way as the pukka enamelled ones and I think that my car deserves the best!

If you do buy one (and my son paid £45.00) you can find out how to fit it here - http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-gtv-andamp-916-spider/178736-spider-boot-badge-photo-guide.html.

You can remove the original enameled/aluminium badge from the swivel part very easily - it is held on with double-sided tape.
I got a replacement for the original that was also aluminium/enameled a year or two ago and it popped straight onto the swivel part (which is a domed piece of plastic underneath).
It is just as good as the original.
The only trouble is I can't remember where I got it from!
It was a small Alfa specialist somewhere in England, but that is all I can remember unfortunately...

Thanks guys. Went for the later plastic carrier type in the end, that way, I can swap the badge easily in another ten years!
